Standards and Capacity Layer

Capacity

Capacity is an individual's present ability to understand, exercise, and faithfully live according to a Standard.

Definition

Capacity is an individual’s present ability to understand, exercise, and faithfully live according to a Standard.

Plain-language meaning

Capacity describes what a child is presently ready to understand and practice in relation to a particular Standard.

What it is not

  • Not worth
  • Not fixed ability
  • Not global maturity
  • Not an excuse to lower the Standard

Why it matters

Capacity protects both truth and the child. It helps the Father lead the child before him toward the next faithful step.

Example

A child may have more capacity for responsibility than humility, or more capacity for respect with one sibling than another.
